Chicago Dentists

Bill and Barbara Z. are a married couple, both dentists, who got into Scientology via WISE.
They demanded a refund from the Church of Scientology of the money they paid in advance for courses they never took. After two years of getting nowhere in negotiaions, they called the Lisa McPherson Trust in Clearwater, Florida, hoping we could help them recover their money.
I flew to Chicago to do a video interview with them.
Needless to say, Scientology heavily objected to my presence. While standing on a public sidewalk filming the dentists as they entered the Church of Scientology of Chicago building, two non-uniformed, off-duty police officers hired by Scientology arrested me on bogus criminal trespassing charges. A costly and time-consuming lawsuit ensued based on trumped-up charges of criminal trespassing – complete with several affidavits written by “eye-witnesses” who are known to work for Scientology’s Office of Special Affairs. I was inevitably acquitted of all charges in that lawsuit.
Mysteriously, the video tape which contained the original interview with the dentists as well as the video of the bogus trespassing incident disappeared from my camera while it was in police lock-up. The recording was never recovered. However, I did do another video interview with the dentists before leaving Chicago in which they talked about their experiences in Scientology as well as the bogus arrest.
Before the trial began, they settled their claim with Scientology and as a condition for receiving that refund, they were forced to sign a “gag order” which in essence meant that they could no longer speak publicly about Scientology. However, this video interview was shot before their gag order so their story can continue to be told.
They also were able to act as witnesses at my trial and, in a court of law were able to speak the truth about what had happened to them and also made it clear to the jury that Scientology orchestrated my arrest to keep me from recording the outrageous story of fraud they had to tell.

  1. It’s great that this film was preserved and can still be shown in spite of the “gag” order. I’m glad the Zizics got their money back although I am sure it was a drop in the bucket compared to everything they forked over during their involvement with Scientology. Evidently there are a lot of routes they take to clean out the bank accounts of their victims. Although the circumstances were a bit different for us, the result was the same – all the money gone, all the credit cards maxed out on high limits that they helped to get, divorce, etc. I watched this happen in my family. Let there be no doubt that this is what they do!
